Snagging the coveted role of the antagonistic mutant in Krrish 2 was a coup of sorts for Chitrangda Singh. Soon after the excited actor flew off to Los Angeles to learn Accelerated Freefall, a 40-second jump from 14,000 feet, so she could negotiate the daring stunts in the superhero sequel and give her golfer husband, Jyoti Randhwa and golfer brother Digvijay Singh a run for their 83 sky jumps. Back home from the action workshop however, there was bad news in store for her. With the shoot of Krrish 2 delayed, doling out dates was a problem and so, Jacqueline Fernandes eventually replaced her as the baddie.
"Krrish 2 is a huge set-up and an elaborate shoot. They wanted me to block four to five months. I managed to set it up initially, but with the project being pushed to November, it was difficult for me to make adjustments since I had other commitments," explains Chitrangda, adding, "Mr Roshan (producer Rakesh Roshan) understood my predicament and let me go. I’m sure he’ll be very happy with Jacky."
Reportedly, scheduling issues are just an excuse and the real reason behind her exit was the "too small cameo" in the final draft of the script that required some nude scenes as part of the mutant’s transition. "There were no nude scenes," she asserts. "I’m seriously telling you that the only reason I couldn’t do Krrish 2 was date problems."
Chitrangda will be seen in Rohit Dhawan’s directorial debut Desi Boyz next month. The comic caper has John Abraham and Akshay Kumar stepping out of a chopper in mid-air without a harness. "The only adventurous thing I did was salsa that left me with bandages on my feet. I hope Rohit plans a sequel called Desi Girlz and gives Deepika (Padukone) and me some real action. I’d love to skydive in a film soon."
