If the first day’s numbers are any indication, then Shah Rukh Khan is going to make life difficult for the other big Khans of Bollywood. Shah Rukh’s latest release Fan opened with Rs 19.20 crore collection on its first day, and is taking the box office by storm. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the film’s business figures.
#Fan records FANTASTIC biz on Fri. Plexes/metros are ROCKING. Fri ₹ 19.20 cr. India biz. Sat+Sun biz is crucial to put up a STRONG total.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) April 16, 2016
In a way, Shah Rukh is in competition with himself as his previous film Dilwale collected Rs 21 crore on its first day. However, the strong buzz around Fan can take its total collection way beyond Dilwale’s total collection in the long run.
#Dilwale Fri 21 cr, Sat 20.09 cr, Sun 24 cr, Mon 10.09 cr, Tue 9.42 cr. Total: ₹ 84.60 cr. India biz. STEADY!— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) December 23, 2015
In fact, Dilwale lost its ticket window battle to Bajirao Mastani in the longer run.
#BajiraoMastani Fri 12.80 cr, Sat 15.52 cr, Sun 18.45 cr, Mon 10.25 cr, Tue 9.40 cr, Wed 9.21 cr, Thu 10.52 cr. Total: ₹ 86.15 cr. TERRIFIC!— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) December 25, 2015
Salman Khan is still the mightiest Khan at the box office in terms of total collections in last two years. His Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo were blockbusters beyond imagination.
#BajrangiBhaijaan won hearts, acclaim... now emerges TRIUMPHANT at the BO. Fri 27.25 cr, Sat 36.60 cr, Sun 38.75 cr. Total: ₹ 102.60 cr.— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) July 20, 2015
#PremRatanDhanPayo collects ₹ 40.35 cr on Day 1. Hindi version only... Tamil and Telugu biz being compiled... OUTSTANDING START!— taran adarsh (@taran_adarsh) November 13, 2015
However, the game is poised now because all three Khans have one release left this year. While Shah Rukh will be seen in Raees, Salman and Aamir are looking forward to Sultan and Dangal.
