Katrina will next be seen in Jagga Jasoos.

It’s not novel for actors today to explore other aspects of film-making, such as direction, production, singing, etc. Bollywood has a variety of multitalented actors. From Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan to Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, they have all dabbled in various facets of movie-making.

However, Katrina Kaif, who has been part of Bollywood for over a decade now, has solely focused on acting so far. Does she, too, wish to expand her horizons eventually? “Yes, sometimes, I do think about that. I would love to direct an ad film,” says Katrina, adding, “But you have to learn to crawl before you walk, right? So, you have to start out small.” The actor feels that while she’s doing a lot of work when it comes to acting, she still has a lot to learn about the other processes of film-making. “I have not understood enough about the other aspects. I don’t know how to express myself well as a producer, a director or a writer. There’s still so much left for me to get my hands on as an actor. Maybe, once I feel like I’ve grasped everything that I want to with regards to acting, I’ll turn my attention to other aspects,” says the 32-year-old.

Over the years, Bollywood has produced many brilliant films. And it is common for actors, who watch their contemporaries’ movies, to wish that they were a part of those films. Does Katrina ever feel like that? “Thoughts like, ‘I wish I could’ve done that film’, don’t come to me often. Rather, sometimes, you kick yourself for not having the vision or foresight to realise the potential of a particular character or film,” she says, about the times she has let certain offers go. “I think a lot of people experience that, and it has happened to me as well,” adds the actor.
