Akshay Kumar’s new role is that of a writer. Not for a film, though. Akki has conceptualised and co-written a comic book, Soldiers of Earth.
The comic book is a tool to reach out to kids as part of the Soldiers of Earth educational programme, run by ONGC and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). “Children are our future, it is very important to teach them about nature, which is irreplaceable,” says Akshay. While doing this comic book, “in a way, I revisited my Chacha Chaudhary and Saboo days”, he adds.
Madhu Singh Sirohi of TERI explains, “Akshay had joined hands with TERI as the Green Ambassador during the last IIFA awards. He had said then that he wanted to be involved further. Since this programme is called Soldiers of Earth, and Askhay has that tough image among kids, we though he would be the best person to become our ‘Cause Champion’.”
The Cause Champion is the fifth major character in the 48-page comic book, which has four superhero children who resolve various environment crises.
