Grammy award winner Alicia Keys is entering the world of children's fiction with storytelling app The Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee, a download for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, and soon other devices.

The app has its roots in Keys's musical ability as well as her own family ties, explained the musician.

"Mama Mae is a character that is partially born from the spirit of my Nana, who instilled in me all of the values that still guide my path to this day," she said of the app that includes music, games, and journaling opportunities supported by a central story.

It's certainly a far cry from Nick Cave's enhanced ebook app, The Death of Bunny Munro.
