Bestselling thriller writer David Baldacci is turning his hand to the fantasy genre with "The Finisher," a young adult novel scheduled for March 4, 2014.

Main character Vega Jane is a 14-year-old inhabitant of the staid and savage Wormwood village, whose citizens never leave and visitors are unheard of. But when her mentor Quentin Herms vanishes, Vega sets off on a dangerous journey to unearth the deadly truth that lies behind Wormwood.

The American author already has "King and Maxwell" on the slate for November 2013; previous novel "The Hit" was published in April, and "The Finisher" will be his second book for Scholastic, having completed "The 39 Clues: Cahills vs Vespers" multimedia series with "Day of Doom" in March.
