A ghost writer has written a parody cookbook that aims to repurpose the language of the erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey throughout fifty chicken dishes and an accompanying story.
Recipes by FL Fowler include Dripping Thighs, Mustard-Spanked Chicken, Learning to Truss You, and
Chicken with a Lardon.
“It manages to skewer (pun intended) the kinky romance but also create a food love story of its own, told between recipes which is amusing and appetising by equal measures,” the Herald Sun quoted Rachel Kramer Bussel as writing on Buzzfeed.
A story of a young free-range Miss Chicken — who like Anastasia Steele, finds herself at the mercy of a dominating, kinky and ravenous chef — is woven in between recipes.
“Before long, from unbearably slow drizzling to trussing, Miss Chicken discovers the sheer thrill of becoming the main course,” the book’s synopsis reads.
The author said she was inspired to write the book after reading the trilogy.
“It evoked something I’d never been able to express,” Fowler said.
“Then one day as I was tying up the ankles of a chicken for roasting, I realised why some of the scenes in the book were so strikingly familiar. It turns out I’ve been practising BDSM for years — but with poultry,” she added.
A lot of the photos include close-up shots of chicken, as well as a lot of very drippy and oozy sauce photos. The most overt photos show men groping the chicken.
The book, which was released on November 13, is available from Random House and Amazon online.
