Following the release of an unofficial Twilight-themed cookbook, creators of another vampire-based series True Blood have announced the fall launch of the official companion cookbook.
Based on the HBO series set in Louisiana, the show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse, played by Anna Paquin and her vampire soul mate Bill Compton.
Though details from publisher Chronicle Books are scarce, The True Blood Cookbook is described as a collection of photos from the show's four seasons, side stories and authentic southern recipes typical of what characters in the fictional world of Bon Temps would eat.
For a concept in which the main form of sustenance is blood, vampire-based cookbooks seem to be fairly popular.
At the height of the Twilight phenomenon for instance, came the release of Love at First Bite: The Unofficial Twilight Cookbook.
Other cookery books based on popular TV series include The Sopranos Family Cookbook, The Desperate Housewives Cookbook and The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook.
The True Blood Cookbook is slated for a fall release and will be published by Chronicle Books.
Meanwhile, for hardcore fans, or Trubies' as they're known, there's also an officially sponsored drink called Tru Blood flavored with blood oranges that can be drunk as is or used as a mixer for cocktails like The Fangbanger (vodka and Tru Blood) and the Plasmapolitan (vodka, Tru Blood, Triple Sec, and lemon juice).
For a bloody good party, the show's website also advises creating a menu full of Southern comfort food like corn bread, macaroni and cheese with bacon, or fried chicken and collard greens.
