There are two ways in which you can enjoy the seventh DSC Jaipur Literature Festival that starts today. The easy, straightforward way is to go to the sprawling Diggi Palace venue in the Rajasthan capital, move from one session to another depending on what catches your mood and fancy — biographer Simon Sebag Montefiore on Stalin or Oprah Winfrey on, well, Oprah — go on an author-spotting safari at one of the world’s most happening literary fests, and munch on the general fun that one doesn’t usually expect of books et al.

Or you can follow what’s happening in detail and with perspective with Hindustan Times. We've sent our brightest, most well-thumbed reporters of letters to bring you what even those attending the fest might miss out on.

Today HT@thefest brings you a curtain-raiser of the kitabrelated dhamaka. Over the next five days, we’ll get upclose and personal with writers and publishers, bring you sidelights in diary items, and provide backgrounded reports from key sessions. So sit back and follow the fun and the fest and bookmark this page till January 25.
