Originally conceived as a novel, TV hit "Veronica Mars" is returning to written form with a selection of mystery novels in 2014.
"I started my career as a novelist. Veronica Mars was first imagined as a novel," said Thomas in a press release. "I'm thrilled that I'm going to get the opportunity to continue telling Veronica Mars stories in a form I've loved and missed."
The award-winning series aired between 2004 and 2007, but creator Rob Thomas and main star Kristen Bell felt it so successful that in March 2013 they took Thomas's proposed film to Kickstarter, winning $2 million in public backing after just 10 hours.
With that film due early in 2014, fans can also look forward to a collection of Veronica Mars books to accompany it, sating desire for episodic content alongside the movie's long-form delivery.
And while the series's Veronica is a high schooler, the books will start as the film ends, readers following the adventures of an adult Mars.
Thomas was also involved in reviving "Beverly Hills 90210" as "90210" as well as in the first season of "Dawson's Creek" and comedy series "Party Down," which starred rising stars Adam Scott and Jane Lynch before their appearances in "Parks & Recreation" and "Glee," respectively.
