Kids love the McDonalds Happy Meal courtesy the toys which come along as freebies. Now, the Fast food chain is planning to do its bit for improving literacy by giving away books with Happy Meal for free!
Popular titles such as Mossop's Last Chance and Martians at Mudpuddle Farm by former children's laureate Michael Morpurgo, will be offered with every Happy Meal purchase, reports Huffington post.
While the bookworms might jump in joy, the offer is only valid for a month - starting today till February 7. While there's no argument that McDonalds is one of the biggest food chains, this move will also make it the biggest children's book retailer for a while.
Jonathan Douglas, director of the National Literacy Trust, said: "Our recent research showed that one in three children in this country don't own a book, which is extremely concerning as there is a clear link between book ownership and children's future success in life. We are very supportive of McDonald's decision to give families access to popular books, as its size and scale will be a huge leap towards encouraging more families to read together, reports Huffington Post.
The move will defiantly bring a satisfactory smile on faces of parents who've often criticized McDonalds for luring kids to junk food.
