This new bookshop in the city will ensure that you get a good selection of books and at rates that will be easy on the pocket. It is not a bookstore that sells second hand books at a less price but a store that gives discounts throughout the year on new books. The Half Store bookstore, which was launched last week in the city by Roli Books, has a whole range of discounts on different sections of books.
“This is going to be a permanent discounted store. Shopping for books here is like an adventure for people. When they come inside the shop and see books priced at such great rates, buying these books becomes an exciting affair,” says Kapil Kapoor, director, Roli Books.
There are different discounts for different kinds of books. “It is not that every book has a fixed rate. For majority of books, we have tried to keep a 50 percent discount, but on other books, the discount ranges from 25 to 30 percent and goes up till 70 percent. The Indian consumer is price-sensitive and this has been kept in mind so that everybody can have access to good books. The books available here are suitable for every pocket,” says Kapoor.
Some books, such as The Second World by Parag Khanna that is priced at Rs 999, is being sold at a discounted rate of Rs 395. Burnt Shadow by Kamila Shamsie, at a market price of Rs 425, is being sold at Rs150. Fiction books by authors such as Jeffrey Archer, Mario Puzo and more are priced at Rs 225 each.
There is also a ‘Books Bonanza’ in the store, whereby customers get exciting discounts and get books for lesser than Rs100.
And there is more than just books at the store, as they stock a range of stationery items as well.
