Bright hues of yellow and bold visuals bring to life the story of Guru Nanak’s childhood in this comic-book retelling of his life. Part of a series that aims to “educate, learn and keep the faith alive” among younger generations, the story line is simple with no heavy dose of spiritual lessons to take away from the enjoyment of reading.

An old haveli is shown flooded by light the night young Nanak is born, and we are told how his parents, Mata Tripta and Mehta Kalu slowly realise his divine power. Dramatic scenes with simple dialogues depict his evolving spiritualism. It’s a book that will appeal to everyone, regardless of the slightly awkward editing.
