On April 8,
announced that the famous lead character, Archie Andrews, will sacrifice himself while saving the life of a friend. Readers will find more details in the July issue of the series, Life With Archie.
"We’ve been building up to this moment since we launched Life With Archie five years ago and knew that any book that was telling the story of Archie’s life as an adult had to also show his final moment,” said Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater in a statement.
However, the character, which was launched in 1941, won’t disappear entirely. He will continue to entertain audiences as a teenager in the other series.
I don't believe they can kill the character
I don’t believe that they can kill the character. In the past, too, they have killed several characters like Spider-Man and Superman but they always came back in some form or the other. So I feel they must be planning something around the character. So you will see Archie Reboot or Junior Archie or they might just change his appearance or costume.

I loved Archie comics growing up, especially the Betty and Veronica editions, mainly because I wasn’t allowed to read them. Archie was a confused boy — like most boys are — and, for me, the girls were way cooler.
When I was in boarding school or in bed with fever, Archie comics were my go-to to get some much- needed TLC. My friends and I had quite a collection and would actually discuss them as though they were real people. We had created our own library of Betty and Veronica comics and they played almost lifelike roles in our lives.
Archie comics made for an easy and fun read during my childhood. As a kid, I was always scandalised that they had people kissing in there. I am intrigued to see how Archie will be killed off.
Archie always represented ‘the cool guy’ for me. His character has inspired romantic comedies and, as a child, I idolised him.
I have grown up reading Archie comics and had hoped to introduce my kids to the world of Riverdale High and the adorable Archie Andrews. It is really sad that the iconic character will be no more.
