The author of acclaimed young adult novels "Midwinterblood" and "Floodland" as well as Doctor Who novella "The Spear of Destiny" is to have his next novel set against the backdrop of Paris in "A Love Like Blood," due March 2014.

Having had his work shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal five times since "Floodland" published in 2000, Sedgwick's stab at more adult themes is billed by Mulholland Books as being "a dark literary thriller about obsessions, revenge, love and hate, and our psychological relationship to blood."

J.K. Rowling made a similar transition in September 2012 with "The Casual Vacancy" while R.L. Stine of "Goosebumps" fame saw horror novel "Red Rain" published two weeks later.
