The ghost of a chairman’s mother, a footless whore in Siberia who has mastered the art of lovemaking, and more such intriguing characters are part of debutant author, Delhi-based Lopa Ghosh’s collection of short stories. Set in the backdrop of glass towers in a recession-struck first world country, the stories are woven around NRI Bengalis facing threats from deceitful forces including ghosts, lovers, communists and post-modern arrogance. Though the narrative is slightly slow, the author manages to impress with her plots, and of course the twists at the end of each tale that leaves the reader asking for more.
