While promoting the June 30 release of Twilight: Eclipse the film, author Stephenie Meyer told fan site Twilight Series Theories (twilightseriestheories.com) on June 22 that readers could expect a long wait for in-progress Twilight title Midnight Sun, saying work on the book felt like "homework" for the time being.
"I'm really burned out on vampires," Meyer told her interviewer. "And, I don't want to write it badly. So I want to wait until I'm excited about the material again, and I'm excited about Edward, and that it's something that's motivating. "
Midnight Sun is a companion book to Twilight and the only title in the series to be told from the perspective of main character Edward Cullen. In 2008, 12 chapters of the manuscript were illegally leaked online. Meyer responded by posting the leaked chapters on her website and commented, "I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely." An update from her website moderator informed fans that Meyer was still planning to publish the title as her next project. Relaxnews
