Streaming portals may have made life easier. However, don’t live under the assumption that all the best shows are on Netflix. Here’s your non-Netflix list...

Fresh Off The Boat

Whimsical and relatable, Fresh Off The Boat tells the story of an immigrant Taiwanese family in the US in the 1990s, attempting to understand the socio-cultural conditions of America while still staying connected to their roots.

Twin Peaks

A crime drama mixed with fantasy, Twin Peaks tracks the murder of home-coming queen Laura Palmer and the investigation that follows. It’s a gripping story and the twists keep getting better as the show unfolds.

The Night Of

This show is a deliberate and successful effort at capturing crimes that shake us to our bones. The show stands out, thanks to its complex yet relatable characters. Not for the faint-hearted though.

The Handmaid’s Tale

An adaption of Margaret Atwood’s acclaimed book of the same title, this show will give you a glimpse of what the future holds in store for you if misogyny goes unchecked and bigots take over the world. With Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss and Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel in lead roles, the show will shock you, scare you, overwhelm you, and stay with you long after you finish watching the last episode. We warned you!

Westworld

Not many science fiction shows manage to integrate the future and the past perfectly, but Westworld is on this list for doing just that. Its striking depiction of human appetite is both subtle and haunting, resulting in a show that’s a visual treat, thought-provoking and entertaining at the same time.
