Levi Strauss names Indian as CFO

Global jeanswear maker Levi Strauss & Co has appointed India-born Harmit Singh as its new executive vice-president and chief financial officer (CFO). Singh will join the company on January 16 and report to the president and CEO Chip Bergh. Singh will be responsible for the
company’s global information technology and finance functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting and controls, tax, treasury, risk management, internal audit and investor relations.

“Having led the financial and information technology operations behind some of the largest restaurant and hotel companies, Harmit has extensive experience in developing and implementing growth strategies for companies that serve consumers around the globe,” said Bergh. “His combination of financial and operational expertise, global experience and deep understanding of Asia will make him a strong addition to our leadership team at LS&Co.”

Singh has an experience of almost 30 years working as a financial leader within the hospitality, restaurant and travel industries. Most recently, Singh was CFO of Hyatt Hotels Corp. He joined Hyatt after spending 14 years at Yum! Brands, Inc as senior vice-president and CFO. Prior to joining Yum! in 1994, Singh served in various financial capacities for American Express India.
