Sahara India on Monday announced its entry into the multi-crore-retail business with the launch of several products under brand “Sahara Q Shop” with an initial investment of Rs. 3,000 crore.
“We have been making elaborate plans for this venture for the last two years,” said
Subrata Roy, managing worker and chairman of Sahara India Parivar.
Roy said the investment have come through internal accruals. “Sahara Q Shop” will have products under 73 categories that will range from staple and processed food, personal care, home care and lifestyle products to general merchandise.
Sahara said it will rely on its own network of workers and outlets for sales and products will not be available in other stores.
The first-phase of launch will cover 60 towns and cities in Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar and Jharkhand. It plans to launch retail outlets in 998 towns and cities by March 2013.
