Tata companies from across the world have introduced 1,305 innovations in 2012-13 that have been successfully implemented and have accrued benefits, a top company official said on Friday.
Speaking at the event ‘Tata Innovista-2013’, Sunil Sinha, chief operating officer, Group Quality Management Services, Tata Sons, said that the culture of innovation is growing in the Tata group.
“The trends observed in the 2013 edition signify a growing culture of innovation in the group with elements of technology-orientation, cross-pollination and risk-taking ability,” said Sinha.
“We have observed that over 70% of the participants are in the age brackets of 20-30 and 30-40 years, indicating that the innovation eco-system in the group is encouraging and empowering young managers to think out of the ordinary,” he said.
Tata Innovista is a group-wide event held annually to encourage, recognise and showcase outstanding innovations done by Tata companies across the globe.
The Tata group comprises over 100 operating companies in seven business sectors: communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer products and chemicals.
The group has operations in more than 80 countries across six continents, and its companies export products and services to 85 countries.
“Tata Innovista has become a great indicator of the success of the innovation drive in the Tata group and of the inherent capabilities of its people,” said Sinha.
