Direct tax collection in H1 witnesses 5.87% growth

The direct tax collection for the first half of the current fiscal (April to September) has witnessed a growth of 5.87% over the corresponding period last year from Rs. 2.57 lakh crore to Rs. 2.72 lakh crore.

The net direct tax collection was up by 16.32% and stood at Rs. 2.27 lakh crore, as compared to Rs. 1.95 lakh crore in the same period in the last fiscal.

While the gross corporate tax showed an increase of 1.6% with Rs. 1.78 lakh crore as against Rs. 1.75 lakh crore, the personal income tax collection stands at Rs. 93,451 crore as against Rs. 81,353 crore, registering 14.87% growth.

Wealth tax has shown 53.9% growth, while the securities transaction tax (STT) has witnessed a negative growth of (-) 17.03%.
