Want to buy yourself a shirt at a cheaper price for your birthday or planning to procure equipment at a competitive rate to upgrade your manufacturing unit through the click of a mouse - just wait till April 30.

A new international e-commerce portal that offers a wide range of products from garments to industrial products manufactured by the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector in India is in the offing.

Unlike other e-commerce sites, this portal, designed and created by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), will cater exclusively to the needs and demands of the MSMEs.

"This site will provide e-marketing platform to the MSMEs on which they can exhibit their range of products, get brands, certification and close deals with their counterparts abroad," NSIC chairman and managing director, HP Kumar told Hindustan Times. "The consumers will get a wide choice of products at a cheaper price in comparison to buying from the stores."

The entrepreneurs will get the opportunity to procure market information and simultaneously interact with the entrepre in other parts of the globe, apart from participating in tenders.

While, the portal acts as an MSME directory, it shall have a quality check mechanism based on customers' feedback and automatic online grading of companies and products.

"In case of receiving any complaints on quality of the product or supply or poor performance, we'll remove the vendor from the site," said Kumar.
