Sharman Networks Limited Thursday releases the newest version of the popular Kazaa Media Desktop (KMD) software, Version 2.1. With more than 186 million downloads to date, KMD is the established software of choice for sharing digital media. Kazaa V2.1 gives users greater access to premium, rights-managed content through Kazaa Showcase and preferential display in search results.

"KMD users have shown great interest in premium Altnet content," said Sharman Networks CEO, Nikki Hemming. "We've increased the ratio of rights-managed files in results and expanded the popular Showcase. We're committed to enhancing users' experience of KMD and embracing the P2P philosophy."

The introduction of Showcase, the premium content offering launched with Version 2, has enjoyed great success with both users and content owners, contributing to millions of license acquisitions. In V2.1, Showcase grows to include dedicated sections for audio, games, software, and video. Updated weekly, Showcase lets users browse and download a growing range of offers.

Sharman Networks promotes the P2P philosophy that encourages users to create their own digital content and share it through KMD. The Kreate project was developed to give users the tools and the framework to create their own digital content, and has been extremely popular. The V2.1 site will feature Kreate more prominently, inviting users to create, share and seek original works based on unique themes.

In addition, Sharman Networks has teamed with MatchNet plc (MHJG:Frankfurt Stock Exchange -- Prime Standard), owner and operator of AmericanSingles.com, one of the largest online dating communities worldwide, to offer KMD users a new search option: online personals. This partnership will allow KMD users across the globe access to millions of eligible singles in over 150 countries. As Sharman Networks' exclusive provider of online dating, AmericanSingles.com will power the new "Love and Dating" search, offering free profiles and premium subscriptions.

New Features:

Building on the success of previous versions, Kazaa V2.1 introduces a range of new features:

-New web interface -- A restructured KMD start page includes sections for audio files, computer games, software, video content and Kreate.

-More Gold Icon Files -- Premium, rights-managed files provided through Altnet are displayed as gold icons in the search results screen. With Kazaa V2.1, Altnet will release more gold icons in response to demand from content creators and owners.

-New Playlists -- More pre-loaded playlists of Altnet rights-managed music files from new categories, including jazz, folk, punk rock, trip-hop and world-beat.

The V2.1 KMD installer has been simplified, including a smaller file size and only two promotional partners, Cydoor and WhenU. Both have a strong history with Sharman Networks and provide professional, secure and relevant promotions to KMD users. These partners help to keep the KMD application free, and support the continued innovation MD users expect from Sharman Networks.
