India's third largest software exporter Wipro Ltd. said it had secured a business process outsourcing order from Microsoft.

"Wipro has entered into a business process outsourcing relationship with Microsoft," Vivek Paul, vice chairman and chief executive of the company's global IT business arm, Wipro Technologies, told reporters.

Paul was speaking after a brief meeting with Microsoft chairman Bill Gates who had visited the Wipro headquarters in India's technology hub of Bangalore.

It was not announced how much the deal was worth.

Wipro is the largest reseller of Microsoft products in India and does research and development outsourcing for the US-based company.

Wipro has a facility in Seattle that develops products for Microsoft and its centre in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad also does software development for Microsoft.
