In a first of its kind, a television network has joined hands with the Ministry of Tourism's "Incredible India" campaign to explore and showcase the country's rich heritage.
"India is a land of incredible wonders that has to be explored and admired. We hope that this year-long campaign will encourage people to visit and experience the beauty of our marvellous heritage properties and also safeguard them for our future generation," said Tourism Minister Ambika Soni while launching NDTV's nationwide "7 Wonders Campaign".
The state governments across the country will also be participating in the initiative to take this campaign to the grassroots.
"India is a treasure trove of astonishingly beautiful creations of art and architecture. It is our privilege to partner with the Tourism Ministry's "Incredible India" campaign to discover and bring forth these wonders tucked away around the country," said Prannoy Roy, Chairman NDTV.
The campaign aims to provide an interactive and innovative platform for citizens from all states to choose seven best natural or man-made marvels in their respective states.
Finally, a jury will select seven wonders of India on the basis of chosen sites across the country, said Roy.
The campaign commencing from next month will be held over a period of one year. A series of special feature on nominated heritage properties from each state will be telecast on NDTV.
Describing it as a unique initiative, Soni said it is an endeavour to reach out to potential tourists including domestic and foreign.
The campaign involves programming on NDTV and public participation through mass media, ground events and signature campaigns - all dedicated to explore the marvels tucked in different corners of India.
