‘Airtel brand known in Bangla’

Why Bangladesh?

Bangladesh is a very large market. It has a population of about 160 million and the telephone penetration (number of telephones for a population of 100) is only 32 per cent. Therefore, there is a lot of potential in Bangladesh. Our survey tells us that Airtel brand is already known in Bangladesh.

You are a leader in India. Will that help in this foray?

There is a lot of commonality between the Eastern India and Bangladesh. I am sure this will help. We will aggressively launch our network in Bangladesh.


What Average Revenue Per User (ARPUs) do you expect?

Our model is not based on ARPUs. Even in India we do not focus on ARPUs. We have a model based on per minute cost, revenue and margins. We will follow the same model in Bangladesh.
