Bharti Airtel today said it is spreading its network in all the remote areas of North East and to all 11 districts in Nagaland, where it has registered a market share of 37 per cent.
Bharti Airtel Head HR (North East) Tridip Sarmah said the company is also promoting local talents in the region. Besides, it is supporting the North-Eastern states' efforts to showcase the region and its tourism potential by associating itself in events like the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland for the third consecutive year, he said.
The company for the third year sponsored Hornbill National Rock Contest held as part of the annual festival, he said adding on earlier occasions too it had promoted music in the region by bringing international bands like MLTR and Scorpions, Firehouse.
Airtel is also promoting activities relating to arts, culture, literature, music and sports in the region ever since its entry in the NE in April 2005, he added.
Gugs Chishi, project director, Nagaland Music Task Force thanked Airtel for sponsoring the first prize of Rs 5 lakh for the rock music contest.
He said the sponsorship money from corporate sectors amounting to Rs 12 lakh were directly going to the young musicians.
