The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Sunday welcomed the Securities and Exchange Board of India's (SEBI) proposed Alternate Investment Funds (AIFs) regulation.

“SEBI’s proposed concept paper is a step towards a formal regulatory structure that would allow the AIFs to operate in an enabling regulatory environment and help in providing the much needed risk and growth capital to the industry and economy,” said Chandrajit Banerjee, director general, CII.

Last month SEBI proposed to create regulations for alternative investment funds.
