Basmati rice prices strengthened by Rs 100 per quintal on the wholesale grains market in the national capital on Monday largely on the back of pick in demand ahead of marriage season amid restricted arrivals.
Elsewhere, other commodities, including wheat continued to rule steady on some support.
Marketmen said firm demand ahead of marriage season against restricted arrivals mainly pushed up basmati rice prices.
In the rice section, Pusa-1121 and common varieties rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 7,700-8,900 and Rs 8,500-8,600 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,600, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 8,500-8,600, rice Pusa-1121 - 7,700-8,900, Permal raw 1,650-1,750, Permal wand 1,800-1825, Sela 2,400-2,450 and Rice IR-8- 1,500-1,545, Bajra 940-950, Jowar yellow 1050-1150, white 1,475-1,550, Maize 1020-1050, Barley (UP) 850-900 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
