BEL turnover grows 6.3% in 2010-11, order-book swells

Defence public sector undertaking Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Tuesday reported a 6.3% increase in sales turnover at Rs 5,550 crore in 2010-11 against Rs 5,220 crore in the previous year.

Defence public sector undertaking Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Tuesday reported a 6.3% increase in sales turnover at Rs 5,550 crore in 2010-11 against Rs 5,220 crore in the previous year.

The company’s order book grew from Rs 11,350 crore to Rs 23,600 crore as on April 1, 2011.
The estimated profit before tax during the year stood at Rs 1,120 crore compared to Rs 1,045 crore in 2009-10, a company statement said on Tuesday.

Supplies to the defence sector contributed 80% to the company’s turnover, with turnover from indigenously developed products standing at 78% of total revenue.

BEL paid a total dividend of 192% for 2009-10. The company has paid 60% interim dividend to shareholders for 2010-11. This is the seventh consecutive year of interim dividend payment.

The company registered a 77% growth in exports turnover from $23.7 million (about Rs 107 crore) in 2009-10 to $41.9 million (about Rs 189 crore) during 2010-11.

The range of products exported include electronic components, communication equipment, electronic warfare systems, radar finger printing system accessories and radar systems and accessories.
