Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Friday announced the appointment of Andre Beyers as the Chief Marketing Officer for its African operations.
Beyers will report to Bharti Airtel CEO (International) and Joint MD Manoj Kohli.
The company, which recently acquired the mobile service operations of Zain in 15 African countries, is working towards introducing its brand 'Airtel' in these markets by October-end.
"We are delighted to have Andre on board and believe that his experience will be immensely valuable and contribute to our vision of making Airtel the most loved brand in the daily lives of African people," Kohli said in a statement.
In his role as the Chief Marketing Officer for Airtel Africa, Beyers will be responsible for developing the marketing and distribution strategy, enhancing revenue and customer market share in all markets, development of products, and nurturing the Airtel brand across Africa.
Beyer has over 20 years of experience in marketing and brand management, particularly in the telecom sector.
Besides being associated with telecom firm Vodacom's marketing and brand efforts for 11 years, he had led mobile advertising company Eyeballs Mobile as its chairman and marketing director.
Beyers's most recent assignment was as the marketing director of South Africa-based vitamin and nutritional supplement firm Vital Health Foods.
