BITS Pilani wins business plan contest

Both the trophies of the final phase of the international business plan competition – Conquest 2008 – have gone to the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

Both the trophies of the final phase of the international business plan competition – Conquest 2008 – have gone to the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani. Organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) at the institute from March 8-9, 2008, the competition attracted 200 entries from reputed academic institutions in the country.

Mentored by 35 industrialists and corporate personnel, 30 plans were short-listed in the first, nine in the second and six in the final phase of the competition. The six finalist-teams were from IIT Kharagpur, ISB Hyderabad, NIT Rourkela and three from BITS, Pilani.

The first prize winner of the day was the project VITA Perata led by Amrut B. R. of BITS, Pilani. Its vision was to provide web-based solutions for recruitment and employee management by creating and storing neurobehavioral profiles of people. The runner’s up trophy went to the project Phoenix led by Ankit Mittal from the same institute. The theme of this project was to revolutionize the face of the iron and steel industries by regenerating the spent acid used for picking in these industries.

Other finalists were Diamas Coats from IIT, Kharagpur, Nirvana Care from ISB, Hyderabad, Oorzaa from NIT Rourkela and Yuvamrit from BITS-Pilani.
