With consumption of packaged foods rising sharply both in India and abroad, the world’s largest producer of food grade anti-oxidants, Camlin Fine Chemicals Ltd (CFCL), is planning to set up a second factory in Maharashtra to cater to growing demand. Anti-oxidants are used to halt the decaying process of foodstuffs.
This factory apart from producing foodgrade anti oxidants, will also produce industrial anti- oxidants and other products of the company that are currently manufactured at its unit at Tarapur in Maharashtra. The Tarapur unit has an annual capacity of 4,000 tonnes.
“We have already acquired land at Pali and the factory would be set up next year. Final details and estimates are yet to be made,” said Ashish Dandekar, managing director, CFCL.
The company has been exporting 10 types of anti-oxidants to over 40 countries and 90 per cent of its produce is for the export market.
