Think of it like a buffet where you reach for the salads because the doctor wants you to lose weight. With global recession and local demand pinching, travel conglomerate Bird Group is betting on a Web-based technology product to help customers manage their costs themselves.
The group has introduced two browser-based "self-booking" tools, Amadeus e-Travel Management (AeTM) and Bird Res-SBT, which are curiously abbreviated software solutions to help corporate entities manage travel.
“Technology can help immensely in driving agile companies to streamline travel costs and enhance overall profitability,” said Ankur Bhatia, executive director, Bird Group.
AeTM solution is for corporations with travel expense of more than Rs 1 crore per month, while Bird Res-SBT caters to those with less than Rs 1 crore travel expense. “Our solutions enable seamless integration between finance and travel management departments in an organisation, empowering them to work together more effectively and trim overall travel costs. These have been designed to keep costs down while increasing transparency and efficiency,” Bhatia said.
Business travellers within a corporation, in association with a travel agency that processes the booking and issues ticket, use these self-booking tools.
A report titled Cost Control and Beyond, published by CFO Europe Research Services in collaboration with Amadeus, has found that less than 40 per cent of CFOs are satisfied with the levels of savings delivered by corporate travel programmes in their company.
