It may be time to dust off old recipes and look for dishes that don't need onions. HT reports.business Updated: Aug 13, 2013 01:24 IST
It may be time to dust off old recipes and look for dishes that don't need onions.
Putting a major dent on Delhi household budgets, onion prices have doubled in the past two weeks jumping from Rs 30-35 per kg around July-end to a shocking Rs 62-75 per kg now.
The government is providing onions at Rs 35 per kg, but there are few takers. "The onions were of such poor quality," said Neetu Behera, resident of Geeta Colony.
With unchecked exports taking a bite out of the domestic supply and new crops from the south set to enter Delhi only in September. Prices are set to get much worse.
