A cumbersome tax system, corruption and infrastructure bottlenecks are among the major hurdles faced by modern entrepreneurs, according to a National Knowledge Commission study released on Monday.

It said 66 per cent of entrepreneurs feel the taxation system is a hurdle. Other obstacles include corruption (60 per cent), infrastructure (56 per cent), getting licenses (50 per cent), legal system (43 per cent), lack of information (30 per cent) and labour laws (19 per cent).

The survey across 8 major Indian cities also mentioned that gender was not a major concern; two-thirds of the female entrepreneurs said “gender did not make any difference”.
