Azim Premji, chairman of software major Wipro made a strong case for free movement of work force across geographical boundaries as he called this the need of hour and imperative in present circumstances.

"Allowing free movement of people across the globe will become more imperative and any country that does not allow for this, such as the US will have a price to pay (in future)," Premji said in a session at NASSCOM Leadership Forum. He added that many countries are witnessing a progressive decline in their work force.

Post-economic recession protectionist noises have been louder in the US that calls for increased visa fees and discontinuing tax-breaks to companies that create jobs in cheaper locations such as India. These noises have been shriller in recent months as unemployment rates in US hovered around 9%.
