Way2SMS, a leading messaging solutions portal, has allowed its users to send SMSes free of cost across the nation.
Way2SMS also claimed that they will bring unique and innovative mobile advertising and branding opportunities in the form of mobitisement (advertisement on mobile phone).
Talking to media persons here on Thursday V V Raju, CEO of the company said that users have to log on to Way2SMS to send SMS. Registered users can send free SMSes across the nation. It's not mandatory to register with Way2SMS to receive SMS. All types of mobile phones receive these messages," he said.
"Our country has become the fastest growing telecom market in the world. Around February last year, India overtook Russia to become the third largest mobile market," he added.
India's total mobile subscriber base now stands at 237 mn in comparison with China's 534 million, US's 257 mn. At current growth rate, India will cross the 264 million mark by May or May-end, overtaking the US," Raju said.
"India is expected to have 450 million mobile subscribers by the turn of the decade, which means every third Indian will have his/her own mobile phone by 2010. This growth also gives a great potential for SMS too. SMS in India is expected to grow from 59 billion messages in 2006, to 180 billion in 2010," he added.
