The country's third largest wireless operator, Idea Cellular said on Monday that its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 31 grew 13% year-on-year to Rs 274.5 crore, while total revenue grew 7% to Rs 4,234.7 crore.
The company said it added 9.6 million customers in the period, and achieved a market share of 13.6% during the quarter. The Aditya Birla Group company now has a subscriber base of 83.3 million with 93.1% active subscribers, the highest ratio among the country's telecom service providers as on March 31.
Idea carried 362.6 billion voice minutes on its network during 2010-11, putting it in the list of top 10 operators in the world in terms of voice minutes.
Idea said it has rolled out 3G services in Maharashtra and Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, MP and Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh (East), Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
