India is listed as one of the top 10 manufacturers of the world in 2010, according to International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2011, published by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) released last week.
The manufacturing value added of all three countries grew by more than 10% in 2010. "Thanks to high growth rates, developing countries' share in world manufacturing output has reached 32% compared to 20% ten years ago," UNIDO said.
India tops developing countries - excluding China - in production of textiles, chemical products, basic metals, general machinery and equipment. It ranks second among developing countries after Mexico in the production of motor vehicles.
