Months after infotech bellwether Infosys pulled founder NR Narayana Murthy out of his retirement to steer the floundering ship, the company has begun moves to breathe new life into its ranks by promoting insiders amidst restiveness resulting from high-profile exits.
Prasad Thrikutam, a senior vice-president, has been given additional responsibility as head, Americas — a position held till recently by Ashok Vemuri.
Vemuri left Infosys to join iGate as chief executive officer, after being frontrunner to be CEO at Infosys when present incumbent SD Shibulal retires.
Thrikutam heads the Energy, Utilities, Communications and Services at Infosys.
The company has also promoted Mohit Joshi to lead the crucial business of banking, financial services and insurance vertical for the Americas. Joshi, also a vice-president has been heading the financial services vertical for the company in Europe. He replaces Sudhir Chaturvedi who had quit Infosys to join NIIT Tech as chief operating officer.
“We feel Thrikutam and Joshi are best fit to carry on the new roles,” Shibulal said.
Infoscions have been growing restive about a perception that even performing employees are not getting their just rewards. The promotion of old-timers Thirkutam and Joshi appears to aimed at dispelling this feeling.
Thirkutam joined Infosys as regional head of its US business operations in 1995. Joshi joined Infosys in 2000, and has been the CEO of Infosys Mexico.
