Leaders and workers of JKNPP, led by vice chariman and MLA Harsh Dev Singh, staged the dharna and demanded that the government issue a calender for the budget session at the earliest.
Singh said that there was not much time before the onset of winter and it was important to hold district development board meetings prior to that and the budget session should be held early, for at least one and half months.
Voicing its protest on another issue, the party said that it would oppose any move by the government to shift the university from Jammu to Kashmir
The party leader said that the coalition government was conspiring to shift the university to Kashmir though the land for the same has been identified in Samba district of Jammu province.
"If the government takes any such step, its consequences could be disastrous", said Singh, who was former education minister during Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's tenure as chief minister.
