Shailendra Roy, wholetime director, L&T, said it is the largest order so far to build super critical power plant in India.

“We are bidding for many more projects. Three tenders are already out. Five are in the pipeline.”

Super critical technology which ensures relatively higher fuel consumption and lower emission in power plants is greatly in demand in recent years in the wake of stringent environmental norms.

“By 2020, there will be no sub-critical power plants. All of them will have to be replaced with super critical power plants,” he said.

Besides these end-to-end projects that are in the offing, L&T has 26 orders for super critical steam generators and turbine generators.

L&T’s stock price was 2.2% up on the BSE on Monday at Rs.1,394.7.
