LinkedIn has introduced a new button for brands present on its network to link to their official pages on the popular professional networking website.
The new LinkedIn button gives users of the world's largest professional social network the ability to follow their favorite brands and companies so long as the website has a LinkedIn page.
With this new feature, LinkedIn promises users better engagement between brands and members of the professional networking website.
"Whether you are looking to stay up-to-date on company news, career opportunities or industry trends, following companies on LinkedIn is a great and easy way to gain insights and stay connected," says Mike Grishaver from LinkedIn.
Grishaver explains the new feature on the LinkedIn blog, "Click on the Follow Company button and, as long as you are logged onto LinkedIn, you will automatically 'follow' the company. If you are not logged on, a box will appear asking for your LinkedIn credentials. Just type those in and you will automatically begin to follow the company. Companies will engage with you from their Company Page on LinkedIn and through status updates. Status updates will appear on your LinkedIn homepage - so check back frequently to see what's going on."
However, LinkedIn has not revealed if companies can identify and/or track users who are following the company - a move which could lead to serious security concerns.
