The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex gained nearly 156 points on Tuesday, on brisk buying in construction-related stocks of cement and steel following a reduction in freights rates as announced in the Raliway Budget.
The Sensex, which rose by 301.50 points in last trading session, added another 155.62 points today at 17,806.19.
The key index had touched the day's high of 17,860.10 and a low of 17,678.74 points.
Similarly, the second wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty raised by 69.35 poins at 5,270.05. It touched the day's high of 5,281.20 and a low of 5200.80 points.
A major push to the market came in from stocks of capital goods, which rose 324.09 points at 16,124.36, followed by metal index by 270.85 points at 16,108.01. Realty index spurted by 247.18 points at 10,016.49 and, oil and gas index by 157.38 points at 11,214.76.
