“I am pained that under my respected elder brother’s (Mukesh Ambani) leadership, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is still doing everything in its power to renege on its binding commitment to supply gas to us,” Anil Ambani said in a statement on Friday, soon after RIL made its first public statement on the ongoing gas dispute.

“This,” he said, “is so contrary to the fundamental values of trust and integrity that my visionary father, Dhirubhai Ambani, stood for, and on the basis of which he founded Reliance.”

“Whatever be the reason … corporate greed, personal vendetta, misguided advice from the 3Cs (chelas, chamchas and cronies ---a phrase first coined and used by Anil in January 2005 in the heat of the first public fight with his brother) it is unfortunate….and deeply, deeply distressing to me.”

Hitting back at Mukesh Ambani, ADAG group’s JP Chalasani said, “RIL’s utter disrespect and disregard for the judiciary is visible in its refusal to even implement the Mumbai High Court’s judgment to enter into a bankable gas supply agreement within 30 days — even though that judgment has not been stayed by a superior Court.”
