Nalco Q4 net dips 31 pc to Rs 409 cr

Public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) on Tuesday announced a net profit of Rs 409.06 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, a 30.84 per cent decline over the corresponding period last year.
The company had a net profit of Rs 591.48 crore in the fourth quarter of financial year 2006-07, Nalco said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The net income dropped to Rs 1,540.7 crore in the latest quarter, from Rs 1,695.72 crore in the corresponding period last year.
For the year ended March 31, the firm had a net profit of Rs 1,624.89 crore, a decline of 31.77 per cent over the year-ago period.
The company had a net profit of Rs 2,381.38 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007.
The total income dipped to Rs 5,556.73 crore for the year ended March 31, from Rs 6,354.08 crore in the year-ago period.
The figures for the year ended March 31, 2007 are audited, while that of March 31, 2008 are unaudited, the filing added.
Shares of Nalco closed at Rs 458.70, up 4.37 per cent on the BSE.
