The National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco), a Navratna public sector unit having an annual turn over of Rs 7200 crore and foreign exchange earning of Rs 3200 crore in 2012-13, has finally got a full time chairman cum chief managing director after three years.

Ansuman Das, who had been in charge CMD since August 2012, has now taken over as the full-time chairman and CMD of the company, as per a Union government order on Friday, a company press release said.

Das who possesses a degree in mechanical engineering from REC, Rourkela (Now National Institute of Technology) and an MBA from University of Hull, U.K, had started his career with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and joined NALCO in 1982 in the formative years as senior engineer in project and technical services.

The last full-time CMD of Nalco was AK Shrivastava, who was arrested by CBI along with his wife in February 2011 after he allegedly made her accept three gold bricks, each weighing 1 kg of 24 carat gold, from the wife of a middleman brokering a deal between Nalco and a Madhya Pradesh based private group of companies.
