Panasonic on Wednesday announced the establishment of its first R&D subsidiary in India, the Panasonic Research & Development Centre India (PRDCI), in Gurgaon, Haryana.
The PRDCI is in line with Panasonic's plans to make India a hub for the development of products that would contribute to the future Indian market and help realise green innovation for a sustainable society, the company said in a statement.
The PRDCI is Panasonic's ninth R&D centre in emerging countries and is expected to expand the company's operational scale in India.
The R&D centre would primarily focus on promoting open innovation with Indian universities and companies to create new business opportunities with and for domain companies and researching future needs and leading edge technology in India, among other things.
"One of the focus areas for the centre will be to develop products relating to the future needs of the Indian market. The PRDCI will also be looking at developing energy management and AV products toward business expansion in India and promote open innovation with Indian universities and companies to create new business," said PRDCI Director Ron T Kakimoto.
